Dear Daddy, From your One Year Old Daughter

Dear Daddy, With Father’s Day almost here I wanted to thank you for a few tiny things.

Thank you daddy for loving me so much.  You love me with your hugs, and kisses, and cuddles.  I know I can’t say it back yet but I love you so much too.

Thank you daddy for always dressing me.  I don’t care how many times my shirt is on backwards or my clothes don’t match.  I’m warm because of you.

Thank you daddy for the nights you let me sleep on you in the big comfy chair when I was sick.  I don’t think you slept much but it helped me feel so much better.

Thank you daddy for teaching me about being on a team.  Even though I’ll play soccer and T-ball, my first lesson to being on a team will be seeing how you’ve helped and supported mommy.

Thank you daddy for helping me learn to sleep.  Even though mommy wanted to pick me up when I cried, you taught me that I’m a big girl who can fall asleep all by herself.

Thank you daddy for all my little nicknames.  I know I’m special because it’s a name you only call me.

Thank you daddy for letting me lay on your chest when I was first born all the time.  I was so scared of the world and your heartbeat told me you loved me and I felt calm.

Thank you daddy for going to work.  I know you don’t want to leave us, but my favorite part of the day is when you get home.

Thank you daddy for singing to me.  You may think you have a bad voice but you’re the only man who has ever sang to me.  So to me, you are perfect.

Thank you daddy for all the times you chose to stay home with me instead of going to golf or hit the bar.  I know those things are your favorite things, so I must be really special.

Thank you for being so proud of everything I do.  I’m trying as hard as I can to be a good little girl and learn everything you are teaching.  Everytime you clap for me,  I feel so proud.

Thank you for coming home to me and mommy.  She and I spend a lot of time together and even though I love her, I think I’m a lot of work.  You always make mommy look so relaxed when you get home at night.

Thank you for not getting mad when I knock over your things.  They’re just too big for me but I want to give them to you.

Thank you for choosing me.  I don’t know how babies work but I know that so many babies don’t have daddies that love them the way you love me.

Thank you daddy for all your time.  Before me you had a lot of free time.  If it makes you feel better, I want to be with you on all my free time too.

Thank you for loving mommy.  I watch you together and can’t imagine anything better than having someone who loves me that much.

Thank you daddy for being my hero.  I can’t imagine there is anything you can’t do.  Because of you I believe there isn’t anything I can’t do either.

I love you so much.  Thank you for being my daddy.  Love, Your little girl
